Pre-Employment Training (PET)
Before being considered for employment with our agency, all candidates must complete essential training that covers our mission, standards, policies, and procedures. This training includes key topics such as proper documentation, medication administration, health and safety, abuse prevention, social inclusion (strategies for fostering participation in social, educational, and work activities for adults with disabilities), and Proactive Behavior Intervention (PBI) (a mandatory course on managing aggressive behavior). Successful completion of all components is required to obtain employee status with Independent Counselling Enterprises.

Internal Training
- We believe training is essential to both employee safety and excellent service delivery. We offer a blend of in-person and virtual training to ensure maximum effectiveness while prioritizing safety. In addition to mandatory training, we provide a wide range of supplemental learning opportunities and can tailor in-services to meet the specific needs of the individuals we support. We also encourage staff development by offering paid participation in training beyond required courses.
- Internal training dates can be found in our Training Calendar which outlines both mandatory and optional in-house training sessions for all employees. It includes scheduled dates for essential courses, as well as a variety of optional workshops designed to support professional development and enhance skills. This calendar ensures that employees have easy access to training opportunities that align with their roles and ongoing growth within the agency.
Abuse Prevention
The Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) program helps protect adults with developmental disabilities from abuse and neglect. The Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol (APRP) is a policy that all service providers must follow. It explains how to prevent abuse and what to do if abuse is suspected, making sure individuals are kept safe. The protocol focuses on teamwork, responsibility, and proper training for everyone involved in supporting individuals with disabilities. All ICE employees must take APRP training as part of their Pre-Employment Training. For training dates and times, please see the Training Calendar.
