Calgary: Calgary is in the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy) and the people of the Treaty No. 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Iyarhe Nakoda. The treaty was signed at the present-day Siksika Nation reserve on September 22, 1877. This territory is also home to the Metis Nation of Alberta, Region 3. Grande Prairie
Edmonton: Treaty No. 6 was made between the Plains, Wood Cree, Nakota, Saulteaux, and Dene people and the Crown, signed at Fort Carlton on August 23, 1876. This territory includes the Metis Nation of Alberta, Region 1.
Grande Prairie: Treaty No. 8 was signed on June 21, 1899 by the Crown and First Nations of the Lesser Slave Lake area including the Beaver, Cree, and Dene nations. This territory includes the Metis Nation of Alberta, Region 6.
