Aboriginal Services
Independent Counselling Enterprises is proud to provide support to
many people of aboriginal heritage.As a service provider we believe it is important for people to have opportunities to explore their heritage and culture. In partnership with an aboriginal consultant we are striving to create connections and resources within the aboriginal community. Our consultant plays an invaluable role in assisting people to connect to the aboriginal culture by providing information and links to resources. Some of the cultural events and activities include: sweat lodge ceremonies, powwows, native healing ceremonies, cultural sharing including traditional foods and the Lac Ste Anne Annual Pilgrimage. For people whom have come from the northern communities in Nunavut and Northwest Territories we are able to facilitate, with assistance from territorial governments, visits from family members. The informal but important visits allow the opportunity for people to reconnect with their families and home communities helping them feel closer to home. |
