Job Title: Health Care Aide (Home Care)
Terms of Employment: Flexible hours, days, evenings and weekends
Location: Within the Edmonton area
Posting Date: September 21, 2010
Closing Date: September 30, 2010
Salary Range: To be negotiated, mileage compensated.
Position Summary: Reporting to the nursing supervisor and working as part of an interdisciplinary team to ensure that clients receive exceptional care.
Duties/Responsibilities: Personal care to seniors and/or adult clients with various needs such as:
- Meal preparation and feeding clients
- Bath assistance, skin care, hair care
- Toileting
- Bowel and bladder care
- Oral care
- Dressing
- Transferring and positioning
- Range of motion exercises
- Simple wound care
- Medication administration
- Ostomy care
- Blood glucose monitoring
- Oxygen therapy
- Effective communication
- Document and report client condition and changes.
Qualifications:
- Health Care Aide (HCA) certificate required
- Must be physically and mentally fit to perform all aspects of the job.
- Excellent attendance record, reliable and punctual.
- Flexible, exceptional interpersonal skills and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle preferred.
- A Clear Criminal Check required.
